The start of the new year was a little rough for me. The day after New Years, I started feeling sick. I had a fever and just felt yucky. My incision wasn't red and there was no pain so I didn't think it was an infection. I thought it must be a bug. I felt yucky all week and pretty much laid down watching movies during the days. I think I finished all 20 Halmark movies I had recorded. I couldn't sleep at night either. It finally dawned on me one night, after reading experiences from other women online, that it was probably a bladder infection. Of course, the doctor's office was closed Friday through Monday so I couldn't get medication. My back was starting to hurt and I was afraid it was moving into a kidney infection. Thankfully, the doctor got me in Tuesday morning and that is what is was. Two days on antibiotics and I felt much better! The kids went back to school on Tuesday. The forcast was calling for snow on Friday and the kids were hoping to get out all day or early. No such luck. About 7:00 pm, it did start snowing though. By around 8, it was starting to stick. Isaac went out and played with friends from the neighborhood and went sledding by the front entrance. He had a blast. I enjoyed watching from the front window.

Unfortunately, there wasn't too much more snowfall during the night. When we went out to play in it Saturday, it was pretty icy. You couldn't even put a snowball together. We did get out the popcorn bowl and had some fun sliding down the hill. I even felt good enough to go outside and slide too. Isaac came out for a few minutes but decided he had more fun the night before and it was cold.
Justin took care of shoveling the driveway. He wanted some exercise. There was a thin layer of snow and then ice. Nathan is holding a piece of the driveway ice.
The kids went out back and tried to find the trails. It looked so pretty.

It wasn't suppose to get above freezing and with the city not having equipment to take care of snow and ice on the roads, we weren't too suprised when we got the call that church was canceled the next day. Justin and I were watching a basketball game and they kept showing a Pizza Hut commercial making us really want pizza. All pizzas were 50% off. We decided to do a little "storm prep" and let everyone order a pizza just for themselves. The rule was that we had to make it last because I wasn't cooking the next day. The kids thought it was awesome. It was fun to hear them talk to each other and ask how many pieces they had eaten trying to stay at the same place. I was impressed that everyone had pizza left until Monday. School was canceled Monday. The roads were still pretty icy, especially in shaded areas and there had been lots of cars going off the roads. I was suprised when we got the notice that school would be canceled on Tuesday as well, however. Justin had to fly out that morning and he said there were some icy spots on the rural roads but everything was clear as soon as he got to the freeway. Charlyce and I decided to take the kids to Stars and Strikes as Tuesday is their play unlimited games and laser tag for a cheaper price day. We went to the one in Cumming. Their school district did have school that day so we pretty much had it to ourselves. Charlyce brought some extra kids and Sabrina Arave met us there with her son and a friend who are Tyson's friends.

Isaac, Wilson, Tyson, Nathan, Lake, Ian, Luke and Jonathon.
Anna, Lane, Hannah and Izzy. Izzy has a stress fracture in her fibula. Poor thing ran on it for probably half the cross country season.
The kids had a great time and I enjoyed sitting and talking with Charlyce and Sabrina. When we left, there were a couple icy spots in our neighborhood but by the time we got home, the temps had risen above freezing and everything had melted off. The kids would for sure be back to school the next day!
