In March, the kids and I headed to Las Vegas to visit Jaikka and Ginger during spring break and also for Ginger and I to run the Six Tunnel's Half Marathon. It was a fun extended weekend. Unfortunately, my kids took turns with the stomach flu. We had some activities planned that we just couldn't do so it turned more into a sit and relax and watch movie weekend. Nathan started us off the night we got there. We pulled in about 9:30 and by 11 he was in the bathroom. Poor kid vomited all night. He did feel a lot better the next afternoon so we went up to a park. It didn't last very long as it was really windy and Nathan was feeling weak but the kids had fun.
Hannah just cracks me up with her outfits. Most days she wants big t-shirts and doesn't comb her hair and then there are days when she wears a scarf.
Of course, darts were thrown.
This is pretty serious stuff:)

Next up was Hannah. Poor thing had it even worse than Nathan. I do think Isaac escaped this...maybe. It has been so long I can't remember.
Ginger and I did get to run our race. It was on St. Patrick's day weekend. There was a lot of green along the course! They had a guy who was like 80 or something running the course dressed up in a leprechaun costume that you were suppose to try and beat. Every runner that beat him earned a charity so much money. I never saw him so I don't know if I was in front or behind him. The race was more challenging than I thought it would be. The first three miles were all uphill on a paved path that headed from Lake Mead visitor's center pretty much out to Boulder City and then you turned around and came back down. The down was nice. After that we went on an old railroad path right on the edge of the mountain. On one side was Lake Mead and the other the mountain. It was awesome. I wish I had a better picture but since I don't want to pay for one, this is all I have. The mountains and Lake Mead were really beautiful.
We ran through six tunnels on the way to the next turnaround and then back through them so a total of 12. Those were kind of crazy to run through. All the sudden you go from bright sun to dark. Hard to get my footing since my eyes couldn't focus. I felt like I had to shuffle through them. We ran out to the electrical plant for the Hoover Dam for the turnaround. The last mile was really hilly!! and it was very hot. I was glad to be heading back through the tunnels to the finish. Ginger and I both did really good. So much fun to do events with my sister!
What color would the finisher shirts be for a race on St. Patrick's day?? Green of course. I think it is our color:)
Ginger and Jaikka moved to California this last weekend. My heart hurts just thinking about it. As I look at the kid's school calender and see our October school break it makes me really sad to think we won't be heading to Vegas to spend time with them. I wish them the best on their new life adventure!
